Who We Are

A Coalition Built on
Regional Collaboration.

NoCo Places is a partnership of nine county, state, and federal public land agencies working together across north-central Colorado. As visitation to the region’s mountains and foothills continues to grow, these agencies collaborate to address the shared challenges of recreation management, resource protection, and visitor safety. By coordinating across jurisdictions, NoCo Places helps develop sustainable solutions that protect public lands while supporting high-quality outdoor experiences for the people and communities who rely on them.

The Big Picture

Colorado Outdoor Regional Partnerships Initiative

The Colorado Outdoor Regional Partnerships Initiative (RPI) advances regionally driven collaboratives working to ensure that Colorado’s land, water and wildlife thrive while also providing equitable access to quality outdoor recreation experiences. The Initiative convenes broad outdoor interests through Outdoor Regional Partnerships to develop regionally rooted visions and action plans that advance sustainable outdoor recreation and conservation priorities. Combined with Colorado’s Outdoors Strategy, a collaborative vision for conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable recreation, Outdoor Regional Partnerships are informing future investments for Colorado’s outdoors.

NoCo Places is a recognized Regional Partnership in this program.

Workshops & Facilitation

Stakeholder Engagement at Lefthand Canyon

In the fall of 2024, the USDA Forest Service’s Boulder Ranger District hosted a series of stakeholder meetings regarding the Lefthand Canyon area near Boulder — addressing how best to reopen the area to motorized recreation post-2013 flooding. A Colorado Parks and Wildlife grant supported the meetings; NoCo Places participated, bringing a regional perspective on recreation and conservation. NoCo Places is continuing to provide facilitation support to maintain the momentum of the stakeholder group.
